DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BSC AND HND
A BSc and an HND are two distinct educational degrees. If you attend a university, you will receive a BSc certificate; if you attend a polytechnic, you will receive an HND certificate. There are undoubtedly significant educational distinctions between polytechnic and university pupils. In order to get admitted to universities, you must have a JAMB and post-JAMB score of at least 200. However, you can enroll in any Nigerian polytechnic after receiving a 160 on the JAMB. Let's look at five things that BSc graduates are capable of that HND graduates are not.
1. Aiming straight for mastery.
After earning an HND, an HND cannot pursue a master's degree without first completing a PGD. No Nigerian university will accept you for a master's program unless you complete that PGD, even if you graduate with honors. However, a BSc graduate can apply directly for a master's program.
2. HND cannot lecture BSC, while BSc can lecture HND.
A BSc graduate can work as a lecturer at a polytechnic. However, no university will hire a holder of an HND to give lectures to students in the system.
3. HND cannot work as a doctor.
A graduate of HND is not eligible to practice medicine. The only persons who can become doctors are those who attend universities.
4. A BSc can go into engineering
Whereas an HND can only become a technician, a BSc can become an engineer.
5. In the civil service, a BSc can advance to Level 17 while an HND cannot.
