When a reporter asked Francis Ngannou if Anthony Joshua's knockout on Friday in their heavyweight match was the toughest blow he had ever received, he laughed.
At the press conference following the bout, Ngannou stated, "In actuality, I didn't feel the punch." "I believe that is the purpose of the knockout. I'm not in any pain. I know I was knocked out because of that.
The former UFC champion Ngannou was rendered unconscious and flat on his back in the boxing ring by Joshua's devastating right punch. As per the DAZN broadcast, he was administered oxygen before standing up again.
Ngannou was stopped by Joshua at 2:38 of the second round after being knocked down once in the first and once more in the second.
"He accomplished what Tyson Fury was unable to," Ngannou remarked, alluding to the fighter's October knockout of Fury in a bout that the latter lost via contentious split decision.
