This announcement was made in a statement released on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, by Ajuri Ngelale, the President's Special Advisor on Media and Publicity.

Ngelale claimed that the president had also given his approval for the suspension of financial and economic sanctions against the Republic of Guinea in the statement headlined "Nigeria opens land and air borders with Republic of Niger, lifts other sanctions."

Economic sanctions dropped against Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and Guinea Ngelale stated in the statemen

"President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate lifting of additional sanctions against the Republic of Niger as well as the opening of Nigeria's air and land borders with that nation."The decisions made by the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government during its emergency summit in Abuja on February 24, 2024, are adhered to by this directive.The presidents of ECOWAS have decided to remove the economic sanctions imposed on Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso, and the Republic of Niger.



The President has ordered the immediate lifting of the following sanctions against the Republic of Niger: 


The ECOWAS no-fly zone for all commercial flights to and from the Niger Republic, as well as the closure of the land and air borders between Nigeria and the Niger Republic.

All business and financial operations are suspended, "Freeze of assets of the Republic of Niger in ECOWAS Central Banks and freeze of assets of the Republic of Niger, state enterprises, and parastatals in commercial banks." "Suspension of Niger from all financial assistance and transactions with all financial institutions, particularly EBID and BOAD." "Block of all service transactions, including utility services and electricity to Niger Republic." travel restrictions for public servants and their families.

SWAN: Team Nigeria's appalling performance at the Paris Olympics is unacceptable.

The performance of Team Nigeria in the 2024 Olympic Games has been characterized as significantly below expectations by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN). Through the Secretary-General of the Association, Amb.
