In Ogun State's Ewekoro Local Government Area, the police have detained two people who they believe to be members of a group of one-chance robbers.
One-chance robbers are thieves that use cars to operate, pose as drivers and passengers, then pick up unsuspecting victims to forcefully take their possessions.
According to the police, the two suspects, Seyi Afolabi, 40, and Aliu Oyetola, 35, were part of a four-person gang of "one-chance robbers" who were terrorizing the people of Sango Ota and the surrounding areas.
According to reports, Oyetola and Afolabi were taken into custody on Thursday by Sango Ota police officers while they were conducting a routine patrol at Ewekoro's headquarters in Itori.
It was said that the cops were following the track of the gang following a victim's account of how she was robbed by the suspects on March 23, 2024, and suffered a horrible experience that cost her over N320,000.
“The victim boarded a Toyota Corolla taxi at Ijako market, going to Itori, with four men who surreptitiously posed as fellow passengers in the said taxi,” revealed state police command spokesman SP Omolola Odutola in a statement on Friday.
