On March 3, 2024, Peter Obi mourns Mr. Ibu.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate, has expressed his condolences over the passing of seasoned Nollywood actor John Okafor, well known as Mr. Ibu. Obi expressed his condolences in a tweet shared on his X account, which was formerly Twitter, on Sunday. He said that Mr. Ibu's passing was a great loss for the country as well as the entertainment sector. He tweeted, in part, "I'm very saddened by his death." He was a legendary comic actor who made people laugh, smile, and radiate delight. We all prayed for a speedy recovery and thought he would recover fully when he tragically fell ill.
