The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Benin, Edo State, has detained at least 39 individuals who are thought to be online scammers.
On Thursday, April 4, 2024, agents of the EFCC's Benin Zonal Command ambushed and detained the con artists.
In a statement released on Thursday, the EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale, stated that the suspects were taken into custody based on actionable intelligence regarding their possible involvement in computer-related fraud.
According to him, eight exotic cars—three Mercedes-Benz GLK, one Mercedes-Benz C300 4 Matic, two Lexus ES350, a Toyota Venza, and a Toyota Camry—were among the valuables retrieved from the alleged scammers.
Phones and laptops are the others. As soon as investigations are finished, the accused will face charges in court, according to Oyewale.
