Food Security: Keffi's Emir Requests Farmer Subsidy Support

Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa III, the Emir of Keffi in Nasarawa State, has encouraged all tiers of government to give farmers subsidies as the planting season begins nationwide.

Yesterday, just after observing the Eid-el-Fitr prayers at the town's main Eid site, the monarch made the appeal in Keffi while chatting with journalists in his palace.

He said that if the government provided farmers with subsidies, there would be an abundance of food in the country's markets and enough produce for export.

Nevertheless, he advised farmers to return to their farms and make the most of the present rainy season.

He asserted that different security organizations ought to guarantee farmers' protection on their properties.

"I will request the government at all," declared the monarch. in order to aid farmers.

"Farmers should receive direct subsidies in the agricultural sector to incentivize them to produce enough food for both local consumption and export."

Farmers are driven to perform at their highest level when they have help.

"Farming is not an easy job; farmers will find it difficult to produce as expected without the necessary support."

"The government must also continue to offer extension services as it did in the past. At the end of the year, farmers can generate high-yielding agricultural products with the aid of extension services.

He continued, saying, "I want to encourage farmers and everyone in charge of their association to take use of the rainy season efficiently in order to have an abundance of agricultural products throughout harvest.

"Education should be a priority for the government as well, as well-supported schools eliminate the need for our kids to study abroad.

"They could attend this school because there are enough capable and qualified educators in this nation who, given enough motivation, would give it their all.

Since the government cannot fund education on its own, we would also like government at all levels to assist the private sector in making educational investments.

They will also have to provide employment in the private industry. To allow the private sector to grow, the government must loosen certain rules. This would result in the creation of job opportunities for the In order for Nigeria to have peace, growth, and development, the Emir urged its citizens to uphold the rule of law.

"In order for our leaders to lead us correctly, we must also respect them and pray for them," he stated. They will become misguided and their entire nation will suffer if we curse them.

"We should be patient and hope that in the coming months, everything will be simple and go as it used to," he continued.
