Ortom tells Yahaya Bello to submit to the EFCC.

On Sunday, Samuel Ortom, the immediate past governor of Benue State, requested that Yahaya Bello, his counterpart in Kogi State, come out of hiding and present his case to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Bello has a long-standing dispute with the EFCC; the anti-graft agency filed N80.2 billion in fraud charges against him, and Bello neglected to appear for his arraignment at the Federal High Court in Abuja, leading to the agency declaring him wanted.

Bello was also placed on a watchlist by the Nigerian Immigration Service, which also mandated that he be taken into custody anywhere he may be discovered. It is currently unknown where he is.

Speaking at a thanksgiving ceremony organized by his aides for his 63rd birthday celebration at a Redeemed Christian Church of God in Makurdi, Benue State, Ortom counseled Bello to come out of hiding.

Bello's prolonged absence, according to him, will make former governors throughout the nation seem bad.

"I want to use this opportunity to advise Governor Yahaya Bello, my younger brother and friend, not to disgrace former governors," Ortom stated.

"You're not required to hide. You don't have to put up any resistance to the arrest.

Proceed there and answer the officials of the EFCC .The laws are in place if they are asking questions. I attempted to call him, but I was unsuccessful.

I want this to be acknowledged because I attempted those who were close to him but was unable.

Thank God the press is here, he should come out, wherever he is and if he can hear me.

SWAN: Team Nigeria's appalling performance at the Paris Olympics is unacceptable.

The performance of Team Nigeria in the 2024 Olympic Games has been characterized as significantly below expectations by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN). Through the Secretary-General of the Association, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, SWAN President Mr. Isaiah Benjamin issued a statement stating that Nigeria's failure to return from the recently concluded Olympics with a medal was unacceptable. The Association blamed the country's enormous failure in Paris on administrative incompetence and ignorance, which became evident when the name of Favour Ofili, a highly regarded track and field athlete from Nigeria, was discovered to be missing from the list of competitors for the 100-meter event. After the Games, SWAN questioned why there were so many claims of medal hauls that administered by the sports authorities despite their full knowledge that nothing, not even the amount of preparation necessary to ensure a podium finish, was in place. Nigerians were led to believe that ev...
