Breaking: Labor withdraws from talks over the minimum wage

Following what labor referred to be "ridiculous offers" of N48, 000 and N54, 000, respectively, from the government and the organized private sector (OPS), organized labor withdrew from the continuing minimum wage negotiations.

While Organized Labour provided statistics to support its request, the government did not, according to individuals present at the meeting. On the other hand, OPS claimed that none of its members paid less than N78,000.

Civil   servants   on   the   federal   government   payroll   will   start   receiving   the   new   minimum   salary   payment   on   Thursday,   September   26th.   Bawa   Mokwa,   spokesperson   for   the   Office   of   the   Accountant-General   of   the   Federation,   confirmed   this   in   an   exclusive   interview   with   DAILY   POST   on   Thursday.   He   promised   workers   that   they   would   be   notified   of   their   new   minimum   wage   compensation   payment   beginning   Thursday.   Details   will   be   shared   soon.
