Professor Jega is appointed Pro-Chancellor of NSUK by Governor Sule.

The new pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council of Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK) is Professor Muhammadu Attahiru Jega, a former INEC chairman, who was chosen by Nasarawa State Governor Engineer Abdullahi Sule.


Governor Sule stressed that the appointment of Professor Jega is intended to further academic endeavors and foster an enduring academic excellence culture at NSUK.


He lauded the institution's accomplishments over the last 20 years in scholarship, instruction, research, infrastructure development, and foreign partnerships.


Highlighting Professor Jega's distinguished career, which includes chairmanship of INEC, vice chancellorship at Bayero University Kano (BUK), and leadership positions in ASUU, Governor Sule affirmed Jega's competence to support NSUK's mission.


Additionally, the governor emphasized the careful choosing additional members of the governing council in accordance with their qualifications and service histories in order to give Professor Jega the assistance she needs.


Governor Sule praised Professor Adamu Baikie, the outgoing pro-chancellor and chairman, and Professor Suleiman Bala, the vice-chancellor, for their services to the university during the inauguration event held at the Government House.

Professor Jega responded by thanking the governor for the appointment and highlighting Sule's dedication to Nasarawa State's public education and development as driving forces.



He vowed that the council would work tirelessly to realize Governor Sule's goal of making NSUK the top institution in Nigeria.


Dr. Ahmed Gero, Mr. Thomas Ari Ogiri, Alhaji Shuaibu Abdullahi Kore, and Hon. Mary Enwongulu are the members of the recently established governing council.


Furthermore, Mohammed Sani Bala and Barrister Labaran Magaji represent the Ministries of Education and Justice, in that order.


The members of the university's senate are Dr. Adamu T. Ogah, Prof. Adua Mango, Prof. Benedict C. Uzoechi, and Prof. Abdullahi Adamu Suleiman.


The congregation is represented by Dr. Tanimu Yusuf and Comrade Buhari Abdullahi Suleiman; Prof. Suleiman Bala Mohammed, Prof. Abdullahi Sallau Modibo, Prof. Theophilus Daniel Lagi, and Bala Isyaka Ahmed II are statutory members.
