Super Eagles: Bamigboye Caution, Don't Tamper With Finidi George's Work

Godwin Bamigboye, the Minister Chair of the FCT Football Coaches Association and the NFF, has issued a warning to the Federal Ministry of Sports Development and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) not to meddle in Finidi George's role as coach of the Super Eagles.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Abuja, Bamigboye provided the guidance.

The most populous African men's national football team's head coach, formerly held by Jose Peseiro, was replaced on Monday by the former Nigerian international winger, who left the position after his contract expired.

Bamigboye pleaded with the NFF to honor George and grant him all the advantages accorded to foreign coaches.

"My brother George deserves my congratulations for this." appointment. We have witnessed his successes as the coach of Enyimba International, one of the most prosperous clubs in Nigeria.

"He is also well-versed with the players, having worked with Peseiro for a considerable amount of time. He must have recognized them and knew how to handle them with his intelligence and experience.

The technical committee can have a part to play and need to operate in the background.

"Everyone should respect him and give him the freedom to make his own judgments. He stated that he should receive the same advantages and respect as a foreign coach.

George was urged by Bamigboye to revive "the glory days" of the Super Eagles. "I'll urge him to resume playing in an attacking manner that the group was well-known for.

"Instead of what we witnessed with Peseiro or Gernot Rohr, we should control the tempo, dictate the game's pace, and put our opponents under pressure."

"George needs to make sure he regains the fans' faith and confidence," he continued.

SWAN: Team Nigeria's appalling performance at the Paris Olympics is unacceptable.

The performance of Team Nigeria in the 2024 Olympic Games has been characterized as significantly below expectations by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN). Through the Secretary-General of the Association, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, SWAN President Mr. Isaiah Benjamin issued a statement stating that Nigeria's failure to return from the recently concluded Olympics with a medal was unacceptable. The Association blamed the country's enormous failure in Paris on administrative incompetence and ignorance, which became evident when the name of Favour Ofili, a highly regarded track and field athlete from Nigeria, was discovered to be missing from the list of competitors for the 100-meter event. After the Games, SWAN questioned why there were so many claims of medal hauls that administered by the sports authorities despite their full knowledge that nothing, not even the amount of preparation necessary to ensure a podium finish, was in place. Nigerians were led to believe that ev...
