Governments Agree Over LG Autonomy, Minimum Wage

The Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF), which unites the governors of 36 states, is now holding a meeting to discuss the continuing discussion surrounding the proposed minimum wage increase and local government autonomy.

The governors had previously declared that they could not support the ₦60,000 minimum wage that the federal government was proposing.
They contended that the imposition of such a wage would force certain states to devote all of their monthly federation account disbursements on salary payments.
The tripartite committee has been asked by the governors to reach a consensus on a reasonable and long-term minimum wage.

The Federal Government declared on Tuesday that President Bola Tinubu will have more discussions before to deciding on the new minimum wage in response to these worries.
