Following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, Mr. Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, declared that "there is no cause for alarm."
When the Minister of Finance met with the President, Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, accompanied him.
Despite his lack of explanation, the meeting's agenda may have something to do with the President's marching orders, which he gave him on Tuesday, to come up with numbers that organized labor would want to bring to the Tripartite Committee on the new national minimum wage.
Remember that the meeting of the Tripartite Committee could not accomplish anything on Wednesday as a result of the federal government team's inability to provide organized labor with a new figure.
The new minimum salary of N60,000 was proposed by the federal government and the Organized Private Sector, but it was turned down by organized labor.
The revised figure is anticipated to be presented by the government team at today's meeting at 2:00 PM.
