Nasarawa traditional ruler kidnapped by gunmen

Gunmen have abducted Musa Shuaibu, the Madakin of the Shabu community in the Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, a prominent traditional title holder.

It was reported that on Thursday night at precisely 8 p.m., the gunmen broke into the area and took him somewhere they didn't know.

After attending the Muslim sunset prayer (Isha'i) in a nearby mosque, Shuaibu was abducted a short distance from his home, according to a local who begged to remain anonymous since he was not allowed to comment on the subject.

We have learned that he was abducted a short distance from his residence. The assailants surrounded him and led him to an unidentified location.Additionally, we have learned that the police are already investigating the situation to make sure he is rescued unharmed. We pray that he returns to this community (Shabu) in good health and with no mental illness.

"The Madakin Shabu has always been a kind and peaceful man. He is a loving person to everyone, regardless of their faith or tribe. This is a struggle he does not deserve to be experiencing right now.

The source stated, "I, therefore, call on the security agencies and the government of Nasarawa State to work towards ensuring that he is rescued unhurt."

DSP Ramhan Nansel, the state's police public relations officer, confirmed the event and informed our correspondent that command personnel had been sent to the scene to make certain the Chief is liberated again and to apprehend the criminal elements.

"He was indeed taken hostage. The victim is being rescued and the offenders are being apprehended, according to Nansel.

Similar to this, in January 2024, a group of gunmen abducted Safiyanu Andaha, the Chairman of the Akwanga Local Government Area in Nasarawa State.

Our correspondent was informed by sources that Andaha was taken away during the night near Ningo village, which is located along the Andaha-Akwanga Road.

It was said that at approximately 8:30 p.m., he and another local, Adamu Custom, were abducted.

SWAN: Team Nigeria's appalling performance at the Paris Olympics is unacceptable.

The performance of Team Nigeria in the 2024 Olympic Games has been characterized as significantly below expectations by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN). Through the Secretary-General of the Association, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, SWAN President Mr. Isaiah Benjamin issued a statement stating that Nigeria's failure to return from the recently concluded Olympics with a medal was unacceptable. The Association blamed the country's enormous failure in Paris on administrative incompetence and ignorance, which became evident when the name of Favour Ofili, a highly regarded track and field athlete from Nigeria, was discovered to be missing from the list of competitors for the 100-meter event. After the Games, SWAN questioned why there were so many claims of medal hauls that administered by the sports authorities despite their full knowledge that nothing, not even the amount of preparation necessary to ensure a podium finish, was in place. Nigerians were led to believe that ev...
