Negotiations are still underway, thus the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, declared that the strike call is "ineffectual, premature, and illegal". On Monday, June 3, the labor unions declared an indefinite strike in protest of the federal government's unwillingness to raise the minimum wage and undo the increase in electricity tariffs.

Abuja, Federal Capital Territory—The planned nationwide walkout by organized labor over demands for a minimum wage has been deemed illegal by the federal authorities. This is stated in a letter from Lateef Fagbemi, the minister of justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF).
