The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are two labor organizations that have received praise from the Yoruba Leaders of Thought (YLT) for their cautious and patriotic attitude to the minimum wage negotiation, as well as the Federal Government.
Under the direction of Alhaji Tajudeen Olusi, the organization expressed gratitude for the attention shown during the discussions to the interests of Nigerians as a whole.
The YLT praised the negotiating teams for their "high level of patriotism, sense of responsibility and acute awareness of the possible impact of a hasty deal on the welfare of the larger majority who may not benefit directly from the new minimum wage" in a statement released by its general secretary, Mr. Bayo Aina.
The YLT praised the negotiations but also asked the teams to make sure that their discussions were fair and took into account the perspectives of all parties involved.
The statement continued, "We appeal to all parties on the negotiating table to consider the fate of the many millions of stakeholders who may have to live with the burden of their negotiations' outcome but who will not directly benefit from it."
