100 Tubers of Yam sold for N1,000,0001MK In Kaduna and Rice paliative to state by Federal Government.

Old yam tubers fetch N1 million in the Bakin Dogo food market in Kaduna, whilst new yams range from N350,000 to N400,000. Due to limited demand and excessive costs, retailers such as Alhaji Abubakar are losing money. The lack of yams is related to yams being shipped to nearby nations and dealers being unable to enter isolated villages due to insecurity. Despite their perishability, buyers prefer new yams and are hesitant to buy pricey old ones.

As a temporary remedy, the Nigerian federal government gave 1.28 million 25 kg bags of rice to 91 million impoverished people. This was questioned by economists who claimed it wouldn't end hunger.

If the project was handled transparently, the Nigeria Labour Congress was in favor of it.

Better governance and long-term solutions were demanded by opposition parties and civil society organizations.

A few states started getting their rice allotments and distributing them. Critics stressed the need to address fundamental problems like food security and production
