NEW TENSE IN THE REPS: 150 New Members Oppose House Leadership

The disgruntled federal MPs have already established a pressure organization under the code name "Novelty Group," which serves as a genuine platform for achieving their goals.

The first meeting of the committee was supposed to take place in Abuja this evening, but it was abruptly postponed due to the passing of Hon. Olaide Adewale Akinremi, a member of the House.
A new confrontation between the House leadership and more than 150 resentful freshman members is about to break out in the chamber over claims of marginalization and exclusion from parliamentary business.
The disgruntled federal MPs have already established a pressure organization under the code name "Novelty Group," which serves as a genuine platform for achieving their goals.

The first meeting of the committee was supposed to take place in Abuja this evening, but it was abruptly postponed due to the passing of Hon. Olaide Adewale, a member of the House.
Prior to his election, Hon. Akinremi served as the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led representative for Oyo State's Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

A group member informed LEADERSHIP last night that the inaugural meeting's new date would be announced following the legislator's period of sorrow.

The group's coordinator is an influential member of the APC House who comes from one of the six states in the South/South geopolitical zone of the nation (name withheld).

As of Wednesday night, LEADERSHIP was informed that the dissident group's membership was increasing. Of the 360 members of the House of Representatives, approximately 75% are first-time members.
A congressman informed LEADERSHIP that his fellow congressmen felt betrayed by the ease with which the House leadership gave in to the President's whims and avarices in approving executive bills and other miscellaneous letters.

He expressed his colleagues' worries that the leadership's infatuation with the executive branch of government had resulted in the sacrifice of their interests, welfare, and well-being.

It was alleged that Speaker Tajudeen Abbas had not taken strong enough, decisive action to ensure the independence of the House.

According to information obtained by LEADERSHIP, the gang was planning to remove Abbas, House Leader Julius Ihonvbere, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, and Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda from office.
Reliable sources in the House disclosed that the lawmakers demonstrating were uneasy with Kalu's autocratic inclinations and conceited positions, particularly when he was selected to lead in Abbas' absence.

According to reports, the first-term lawmakers were targeting Ihonvbere and Chinda for allegedly failing to uphold their rights and sacrificing them in favor of financial gain.
In a similar vein, members became enraged with chairs of the House committees for keeping them out of committee activities.
