On Thursday, Dayo Ogunde, his sister, posted on Facebook to notify his passing. She did not, however, disclose his age or the reason for his passing.

"Brother mi, our firstborn child in the Ogunde tribe, it's difficult to say goodbye. But the fact that you're in a better place gives us comfort. You were such a wonderful, kind person. May your spirit always rest in the arms of your creator. Good night. Ogunde George.

Afolabi Ogunde-Kikiowo, a daughter of Hubert Ogunde, passed away in September 2019.
