Presidency Confirms When Minimum Wage And It' Arreas Will Take Effect

That new national minimum wage is expected to take effect from April 2024.

The Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun , who confirmed this in a post via X on Tuesday, added that workers will be paid arrears of their increase from this period.

The new national minimum wage is anticipated to go into effect in April 2024, according to confirmation from the president.

Dada Olusegun, President Bola Tinubu's Special Assistant on Social Media, verified this on Tuesday in a post via X. He also mentioned that employees will get paid retroactively for their raises beginning at this time.

Asserting that President Bola Tinubu has written to the National Assembly to request their support for the new National Minimum Wage law, Olusegun provided the update. The National Minimum Wage Bill has been forwarded to the House of Representatives for consideration by President Bola Tinubu via letter.

Tuesday's House of Representatives plenary saw the reading of the President's letter to the parliamentarians outlining his request.

On the floor of the upper house, a letter akin to the one sent to the Senate was also read. The President approved a new minimum salary of ₦70,000 for Nigerian workers last week; this week, he wrote a letter to the National Assembly.
