A suggestion for restricted protests made by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has been rejected by the organizers of the planned #EndBadGovernance countrywide rallies scheduled for tomorrow.
In a Tuesday meeting with the organizers, the IGP recommended against street rallies and instead recommended limited protests in designated areas.
"It's not urged to take part in public processions as, at the same time that you are organizing a demonstration, some people are organizing acts of violence, the IGP stated.
The IGP's suggestion was turned down by Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), a lawyer for the "Take It Back Movement," one of the organizations spearheading the countrywide demonstrations.
Ahead of the planned nationwide protest, CP Benneth Igweh, the commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, has directed the deployment of 4,200 people and other resources to guarantee the security and safety of law-abiding citizens within the FCT. He also cautioned against protests that turn violent.
