Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, resided in a palace at Gidan Rumfa. Parts of the palace were destroyed by a fire outbreak that is thought to have been started by unknown individuals.
The impacted region, according to sources inside the palace, was at Kofar Kudu, a neighborhood where the Emir attends Monday court proceedings. It was the Kofar Kudu palace. As you are aware, there is an inside entry to the palace in addition to the front (outside) door. According to a source, "the key was forced open, and it was suspected that they broke in, started the fire, and locked the door."
The throne, air conditioners, and other items in the palace were allegedly destroyed by the fire. Notwithstanding the extent of the harm, the Kano State Fire Department was not informed.
"The command was not aware of the incident since there was no call regarding the incident at any of the agency's centers," said Saminu Yusif Abudullahi, the public relations officer for the State Fire Service.
On Saturday morning, Munir Sanusi Bayero, the Dan Buram Kano, the Chief of Staff to the 16th Kano Emir, released a statement confirming the occurrence. "A fire event happened at the outside court of His Highness's Palace, Kofar Kudu, on Saturday morning, July 13, 2024. Thankfully, nobody was hurt, and the damage was not great," he stated.
The declaration made clear that steps were being taken to guarantee the protection and safety of the palace and its people. In order to ascertain the origin of the fire and stop it from happening again, an inquiry was under way.
