Ten private jet operators were suspended by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Friday for failing to start the recertification procedure.
Achimugu, the director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, signed a statement that was posted on the NCAA's official X handle, formerly Twitter, @Nigeriacaa. The regulatory body said that all holders of Permit for Non-commercial Flights (PNCF) had been ordered by the Authority to undergo re-evaluation, which was to be completed by April 19, 2024.
Achimugu claims that the operators' suspension was in accordance with Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023 Part 18.3.4, which prohibits holders of PNCF from using their aircraft to transport people, goods, or mail for compensation or rent is a business venture or a charter service.
The NCAA stated: "The NCAA had earlier required all holders of PNCF to undergo re-evaluation, which should have been concluded by the 19th of April 2024, due to severe disobedience of this norm. In light of this, the NCAA has revoked the permission for Azikel Dredging Nigeria Ltd., Bli-Aviation Safety Services, Ferry Aviation Developments Ltd., Matrix Energy Ltd., Marrietta Management Services Ltd., Worldwide Skypaths Services, Mattini Airline Services Ltd., Aero Lead Ltd., Sky Bird Air Ltd., and Ezuma Jets Ltd. to operate non-commercially.
The public was also informed by the regulating body that it is forbidden to work with operators who possess PNCFs for profit.
"If a PNCF holder is found guilty, the NCAA will not hold back from taking enforcement action against them." Regarding unlawful activities, the Authority issued a warning.
Achimugu stated that in order to keep an eye on the actions of the PNCF holders, NCAA representatives have been stationed at airport private wings and General Aviation Terminals (GAT).
