The Kano State Police Command has warned citizens to exercise caution in light of the rise in culpable homicide cases in the state.
In a statement released on Friday, Command Spokesman Abdullahi Kiyawa linked the concerning trend to fights, knife stabbings, drownings, and flood-related fatalities that cause families and communities to be saddened and lose loved ones.
According to Kiyawa, CP Salman Dogo, the state's commissioner of police, is extremely concerned about the unsettling development and is urging parents and guardians to discourage their kids from engaging in aggressive behavior.
The people is urged to use extraordinary caution and restraint in their daily lives by the Command, which is extremely worried about this trend exchanges to stop these things from happening.
In this context, we make a call to parents and guardians to counsel their wards and children about the risks of acting violently and the repercussions of doing so.
"Avoid carrying potentially harmful weapons, such as clubs, irons, knives, shattered bottles, etc. Refrain from moving or traveling during periods of intense rain and flooding, the Command said.
The CP stated the command is working nonstop to address the problem and guarantee public safety, but it is encouraging the people to avoid any physical altercations and arguments that can escalate violence.
He also urged state citizens to report any suspicious activity to the closest police station.
