I covered the cost of the U-23 Eagles' 2016 Olympic trip.

The method by which Mikel John Mikel Obi funded the U-23 Eagles team's airfare to the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil has been made public.

The team's handler at the time, Samson Siasia, named Mikel as one of the three overage players on the roster.

The performance of Team Nigeria in the 2024 Olympic Games has been characterized as significantly below expectations by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).
