In Benue State, twenty medical and dental students from two universities as well as a house officer were kidnapped by armed men who are suspected of being kidnappers.
According to information obtained by our correspondent, the students were traveling to Enugu State for the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual conference on Thursday night.
More information revealed that the victims were twelve students from University of Jos (UNIJOS) and eight students from University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID). The students were traveling together when they were ambushed by the gunmen at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo local government area of Benue State on their way to Enugu.
Upon being contacted, the In a phone chat with our correspondent, Catherine Anene, the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Benue State Police Command, acknowledged the occurrence and stated, "incident confirmed but I don't have details of their number yet."
The PPRO stated that the inquiry was still underway.
