Rema Tems Create Obama's Summer Playlist for 2024.

Former US President Barack Obama has released his much awaited yearly summer playlist, which consists of 44 interesting and intriguing tracks.

According to what Obama posted on X, Tems and Rema are the only Nigerians on this year's roster of artists.  Obama shared the playlist with his fans in his post, expressing his wide taste in music and hoping that as summer draws to an end, people would find fresh inspiration for music.

The former president denied rumors that he is not the person who puts together his well-known playlists, and this year's summer playlist is the result of his confirmation last year.

Obama responded, "I choose myself," to the question of whether he listens, when speaking with comedian Hasan Minhaj. Yes, I do! Pay attention. I'm overjoyed to have this chance. People trust the movies and novels, but they also believe the playlists. This belief, which is primarily held by young people like you, is that you guys originated rock 'n' roll. Hip-hop is something you invented.

"And so, people seem to assume that since my lists are, you know, fairly amazing, he must have had some 20-year-old intern working on this most recent cut. No, dude! Right now, it's on my iPad.”

The addition of Tems and Rema comes after other Nigerian musicians were honored in the past, such as Wizkid and Tems in 2020, Burna Boy in 2022, and Ayra Starr in 2023.

But there was not a single Nigerian musician on Obama's playlist for 2021.

Other noteworthy tracks on the roster include "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" by Shaboozey, "365" by Charli XCX, "Chihiro" by Billie Eilish, "Them Belly Full" by Bob Marley, "Texas Hold 'Em" by Beyoncé, and "The Miracles." Samara Joy's song, "You've Really Got a Hold on Me."

Megan Thee Stallion's "Wanna Be," featuring GloRilla, and Pasquale Grasso's "Someone to Watch Over Me."

SWAN: Team Nigeria's appalling performance at the Paris Olympics is unacceptable.

The performance of Team Nigeria in the 2024 Olympic Games has been characterized as significantly below expectations by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN). Through the Secretary-General of the Association, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, SWAN President Mr. Isaiah Benjamin issued a statement stating that Nigeria's failure to return from the recently concluded Olympics with a medal was unacceptable. The Association blamed the country's enormous failure in Paris on administrative incompetence and ignorance, which became evident when the name of Favour Ofili, a highly regarded track and field athlete from Nigeria, was discovered to be missing from the list of competitors for the 100-meter event. After the Games, SWAN questioned why there were so many claims of medal hauls that administered by the sports authorities despite their full knowledge that nothing, not even the amount of preparation necessary to ensure a podium finish, was in place. Nigerians were led to believe that ev...
