The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja is currently home to two officials, as confirmed by the Kogi State administration.
Journalists in Lokoja, the state capital, were given access to a statement made public by Kingsley Fanwo, the state information commissioner, yesterday.
The anti-graft agency is currently housing Dr. Shaibu Oricha, the director general of Government House Administration, and another government official, according to a source who spoke with LEADERSHIP. This is because a court order was issued ordering their detention, they willingly went to the commission's Abuja headquarters.
"The allegations against them are not fully known to us, but they might have something to do with the ongoing investigations into certain current and former government officials."
"The officials presented themselves as law-abiding Nigerian citizens to further show that the Kogi State government has nothing to conceal and will always open its books to legitimate investigations."
Fanwo stated, "In response to a news that their detention was ordered by a Federal High Court, the Kogi State Government can confirm that two of her officers are at the EFCC Headquarters in Abuja. Even though there was no formal invitation.
"We expect that the EFCC would conduct its investigations with professionalism in response to the officials' patriotic behavior. As a government, we are ready to work with anti-graft organizations to demonstrate our transparency and uphold the trust of our development partners, who have continuously bestowed upon us accolades for our unwavering transparency accountability as well as integrity.
