The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has summoned Favour Igiebor, a Nigerian woman who damaged her husband's Standard Passport at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, and initiated a formal investigation into the matter.
According to LEADERSHIP, the couple and their children came from overseas on Saturday, just after the dramatic episode that took place at the airport.
Responding to the incident, NIS's public relations officer, Kenneth Udo, released a press release on Sunday stating that the person involved has been identified as Mrs. Favour Igiebor, whose passport number is A11990869. The Comptroller General of Immigration has also ordered that she be invited for additional analysis.
A spokesman with NIS claims that The statement stated that, should the accusations against Mrs. Igiebor prove to be true, her actions would violate Section 10(b) of the Immigration Act 2015 (as amended), and that she would be subject to the penalties specified in Section 10(h) of the same Act.
In order to protect national security and maintain the honor and integrity of the country's legal system, Udo reaffirmed that the Nigeria Immigration Service is unwavering in its commitment to enforcing the Immigration Act's requirements.
