In an effort to lessen the harsh consequences of the nation's present economic crisis, the PlungeSmile Foundation has taken on the role of around eight schools, providing daily meals for 1,000 pupils.
In Kwara State, the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) is also constructing its first model.
Speaking during the PlungeSmile Foundation's 20-year anniversary and 50th birthday celebration for chairman and general manager Olayemi Popoola, which took place recently in Victoria Island, Lagos, Popoola stated, "We have only adopted seven or eight schools after 20 years." We now feed a thousand pupils every day. They know they will get one supper from us today as long as they attend school. We hope to be in a position to prolong project to other schools throughout the nation of Nigeria with the assistance and backing of business organizations and well-meaning Nigerians.
"In Kwara State, we are constructing our first model. This is a result of our current financial constraints. Since public schools will be the most affected, that is why we are focusing on them.
We are attempting to enlist the assistance of well-intentioned Nigerians and business entities in our current endeavor. Additionally, it's a chance for them to integrate social good into their enterprises," he continued.
In agreement with Popoola, Andy Eberechukwu Akukwe, vice president of the foundation, stated that the organization had changed thousands of people's lives.
He went on to say that the foundation's programs are implemented in secondary public schools.
"And some of the individuals we touched are now successful in life, having graduated from college, and some of them are even contributing to PlungeSmile's charitable endeavors."
