The growing threat of MPox, also known as monkeypox, has prompted the federal government to step up monitoring and screening procedures at all points of entry.
Prof. Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, emphasized these steps in a statement issued in Abuja by Mr. Tashikalmah Hallah, his Special Assistant on Media and External Relations.
Prof. Pate clarified in the statement that this strain of Mpox Clade 1 has killed as many as 10% of those who had become infected during prior outbreaks. Our objective is to lessen its effects by employing strategies akin to those used in the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to him, all travelers must now comply with a new requirement from the government.
