Fuji star Okunola Saheed, fondly called Osupa, has terminated his case against controversial singer Badmus Okikiola, popularly called Portable.
Ahmed Opalekunde, Osupa's attorney, confirmed toTIMBLOGGIST Online on Tuesday that the case had been filed for withdrawal at the Upper Area Court 1 High Court in Ilorin.
In response to Osupa's petition, the Kwara State Police Command brought Portable before the court on Monday.
Osupa had directly complained to the police, alleging that Portable had engaged in cyberstalking, criminal intimidation, criminal defamation, and inciting public unrest.
According to Sections 392 (Criminal Defamation), 114 (Inciting Disturbance), 397 (Criminal Intimidation), and 24(1)(b) and 24(2)(c) of the Cybercrimes Act, the alleged offense was judged contrary and subject to punishment. Act, 2015, in addition to the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2020's Sections 10 and 13.
Osupa's lawyer told TIMBLOGGIST on Tuesday that after intervention and cries from important parties, his client ordered him to drop the case.He claimed that Osupa was turning to an out-of-court settlement with Portable. The withdrawal letter, however, conveyed Osupa’s warning that Portable desist from further publications or utterances disparaging his person. They also said that Portable, the defendant, had harmed his reputation by saying that he deleted his music from Spotify and Apple Music, where it would have generated revenue. Additionally, the complainant accused Portable of defaming his reputation through a live stream video. He claimed that the defendant had damaged his reputation and potential revenue by making a false claim that he had taken his music down from streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify.
