Saheed Osupa withdraws his lawsuit against the singer and places three requirements on Portable.

Saheed Osupa, Nigerian Fuji singer, has dropped his lawsuit against Portable. On Monday, Kemi Filani revealed that Portable had been taken into custody by the Kwara State police on suspicion of criminally defaming Fuji singer Saheed Osupa. Threat to life, incitement, character assassination, criminal defamation, conduct likely to cause breach of peace, and the use of derogatory and abusive language were among the charges against him. After not meeting the bail requirements of ₦1 million and two sureties, one of whom had to be the chairman of the Performing Musicians' Association of Nigeria (PMAN), the singer was placed under remand in correctional facility. The date of his case has been postponed until April 30, 2025. In press statement, the Fuji maestro's team explained that he had filed lawsuit against Portable because of what they saw as gross infringement of intellectual property rights and an intolerable pattern of defamation and public misconduct. They explained that the legal cause was not personal but rather was establishing precedent to deter disruptive behavior and encourage responsibility, particularly among younger artists. Nevertheless, after receiving heartfelt requests from number of well-known Nigerians and being moved by Portable's predicament after he failed to fulfill his bail requirements, Osupa issued personal directive for the case to be immediately withdrawn. His team added that this decision was motivated by compassion and hoped that this would be turning point in Portable's life and career.
Withdrawal : take back what he said, admit to lying, and sign commitment. KING SAHEED OSUPA, citing public pleas and devotion, orders the withdrawal of the legal case against Portable. The administration of King (Dr.) Saheed Osupa would like to notify the public that, per Osupa's directive, the lawsuit that had been filed against Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, has been formally withdrawn. It is important to note that Osupa's management team originally started the legal process in response to what they believed to be serious infringement of intellectual property rights as well as an intolerable pattern of public misconduct and defamation. Therefore, the goal was not personal but rather to establish standard that would deter disruptive behavior and encourage accountability, particularly among younger artists. However, in response to sincere requests from On behalf of Olufimo Royal Parliament, Alh. Fatai Lajero, and Alh. Waheed Ogunsesan, National President of the Olufimo Fans Club, among other notable Nigerians, were moved by Portable's situation and, after he failed to fulfill his bail requirements, Osupa personally ordered the case to be immediately withdrawn. Please take note that this decision is motivated by compassion and the hope that this will be pivotal moment in Portable's life and career, as Osupa feels that, in addition to accountability, mercy is also pillar of leadership. He hopes that Portable will take advantage of this chance for introspection, development, and transformation anticipated to:
Retract his assertion that Saheed Osupa should bear responsibility for his fate. Admit that the public assertion made by his attorney, Chief Bar. Isaac Adebayo, that he was holding Saheed Osupa's leg and pleading for forgiveness was untrue, as Osupa did not even look at Portable. Make commitment to refrain from character assassination, defamation, and cyberbullying going forward. Remember how Portable's song was taken down from Spotify and other streaming services after Saheed Osupa reported it for copyright infringement last month ? The Fuji icon had been attacked by furious Portable, who made fun of his appearance and questioned his value in the music business. Retracing his steps, Portable later issued an apology and blamed his outburst of greed.

SWAN: Team Nigeria's appalling performance at the Paris Olympics is unacceptable.

The performance of Team Nigeria in the 2024 Olympic Games has been characterized as significantly below expectations by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN). Through the Secretary-General of the Association, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, SWAN President Mr. Isaiah Benjamin issued a statement stating that Nigeria's failure to return from the recently concluded Olympics with a medal was unacceptable. The Association blamed the country's enormous failure in Paris on administrative incompetence and ignorance, which became evident when the name of Favour Ofili, a highly regarded track and field athlete from Nigeria, was discovered to be missing from the list of competitors for the 100-meter event. After the Games, SWAN questioned why there were so many claims of medal hauls that administered by the sports authorities despite their full knowledge that nothing, not even the amount of preparation necessary to ensure a podium finish, was in place. Nigerians were led to believe that ev...
