FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CLEARS PATH FOR VERIFIED CONTRACTOR DEBTS, RESUMES WAGE AWARD PAYMENTS

As of June 25, 2025, the Federal Government will continue its phased payment of N35,000 wage award arrears to civil servants. According to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), payment of the five-month arrears commenced in May 2025, with monthly installments scheduled until all arrears are settled.

The next payment is slated for June 2025, following the payment of the June salary. Introduced as a palliative measure after the removal of fuel subsidies, the wage award aims to cushion the economic impact on workers.

Civil   servants   on   the   federal   government   payroll   will   start   receiving   the   new   minimum   salary   payment   on   Thursday,   September   26th.   Bawa   Mokwa,   spokesperson   for   the   Office   of   the   Accountant-General   of   the   Federation,   confirmed   this   in   an   exclusive   interview   with   DAILY   POST   on   Thursday.   He   promised   workers   that   they   would   be   notified   of   their   new   minimum   wage   compensation   payment   beginning   Thursday.   Details   will   be   shared   soon.
